New Jersey

The 2nd Annual NJ Prep Race will once again be held at the Legendary Garret Mountain Reserve Cross Country Course. Garret Mountain has been the site for hundreds of league, county and state championship races for over 50 years. It's well know for it's wide open start and brutal .5 mile hill at the end of the race. National Prep Race is the 1st event of it's kind ever run there. We were able to secure such a great site by showing how great of an event it will be and by being involved with such great charities.

We will be running a 2 mile course. The race will start at the top of the mountain in the open field and will follow the trail all the way down to the lake. Then the course will go straight up the hill and finish just past the big Oak tree.

There will be 5 obstacles on the course:

1. "The Ultimate Wall Climb" (6 foot wall climb) - about .5 miles into the race

2. "Terrible Tires" (about 60 old car tires) - about .75 miles into the race

3. "Tubes of Terror" (crawling through muddy tubes) - about 1.2 miles into the race

4. "Death Hill" (1/2 mile uphill run) - about 1.5 miles into the race

5. "Mud Slide" (tarp covered with mud) - about 1.8 miles into the race

Pennsylvania

The 2 mile course will run in and around the corn fields of the athletic complex at Lehigh University. Runners will need to negotiate multiple obstacles along the way, including  a 6 foot high wall just 400 meters into the race. Before the mile mark they will have to run through 2 rows of tires (the "tires of destruction") which will be of various shapes and sizes. Following the mile runners will face three more obstacles. First, they must crawl through a long row of mud soaked tubes (the "treacherous tubes".) Half a mile later will stand the toughest challenge yet, a set of balance beams (the "brutal balance beams") to cross while onlookers try to knock them off with water balloons. Finally, runners will cap off the race with the muddiest obstacle just before the finish line: the mud slide.
