The Family Reach Foundation 5k
On Sunday, October 23rd, The Sports Conditioning Institute once again showed its support of The Family Reach Foundation's 5k at Darlington Park in Mahwah. For the first time SCI created a fundraising team that runners could join and get their friends and family to sponsor. More than 20 of the nearly 300 participants wore SCI team shirts and we wound up raising almost$2,000!! Thanks to everyone who ran and donated; all of this money goes to support families whose children are fighting cancer!
National Prep Race
On Saturday, July 16th, Brad Vaccaro and The Sports Conditioning Institute teamed up with two great organizations, My Charity 4 Kids and the Family Reach Foundation, in an attempt to raise research funds for childhood cancer and blindness. The event, a mud race called "The Ultimate Run" was held at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park and required athletes to scale a six foot wall, navigate through fifty old car tires, crawl through tubes, and splash through a mud slide. The first year event was a monumental success. Participation was nearly double what was originally expected and runners raved about the family friendly, competitive atmosphere of the first ever mud run held on the legendary cross country course. Most importantly, the race raised nearly $1,000 for these two great charities!! As a result of the success, Brad, My Charity 4 kids Director Mark Chesney , and The Family Reach Foundation's Morello family are already in the process of establishing more exciting mud races across the entire Northeast and will continue to raise money for these important organizations.
In 2012 National Prep Race will work with the following charities: Family Reach Foundation, My Charity 4 Kids, 5 College Relay For Life, Race For Adam, and Special Olympics New Jersey.
