Athlete of the Week

Ally Schlosser – Parsippany High School

Ally, a freshman distance runner at Parsippany High School, is SCI's Athlete of the Week after setting three personal bests in just three days. On Wednesday she competed at the NJAC Championships and set PRs at 1600 (5:22) and 3200 (11:52). On Friday she beat out more than 100 runners to take first in the 800 at the Morris County Girls Frosh/Soph Championships in another PR of 2:25!

Ally has been training at SCI for about a year and a half. She works with Coach Vaccaro on her running technique and speed and strength.

Jeffrey Borst and Quinn Burns

Ramapo HS and Oakland Elementary

Jeff was a starting lineman on the state champs and will continue playing in college. He started training with coach Vaccaro to get ready for college. In the last two months, he has improved his bench, 40 yard dash and vertical and has become a much better athlete! Quinn just qualified for the states in long jump and is now jumping around 9 feet! His form has improved dramatically and we all have a ton of fun when he's here. In the picture he wants to show Jeff that he's just as tough, despite being out weighed by over 200 pounds lol!

Jess Andre and Sam Dunn are both stand out distance runners from Waldwick H.S. Jess won the state title in 3200, and has since gone on to run Div 1  at UMASS. Sam is recovering from foot surgery and will be better than ever this spring. They both have trained at SCI for over 3 years and have done a great job getting faster and stronger.

Zak Fischer is a senior distance runner at Lakeland High School and has been training at SCI for about two years. After spending the fall season running 5ks for the Lakeland XC team he decided to take on a bigger challenge and run the New Jersey Half Marathon. The half marathon distance is rarely run by high schoolers but Zak made it look easy. His time of 1:49 was significantly faster than what he ran last year.

Nulla's Corner

SCI is happy to welcome our newest trainer, Nulla. Nulla has been a trainer at SCI for about two weeks and during that brief time has shown she has the potential to become one of the better trainers in the area. She has a tremendous work ethic, sometimes working 10-12 hour days, and is also an extremely quick learner. So far her only flaw is that she sometimes abandons clients in the middle of a session to take a nap in the corner of the gym. Nulla invites you to stop by S.C.I. any time! The first session is always FREE but after that she will be charging $10,000/hour. Toys are expensive.
